After your Bachelor's

Obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology from the UvA and VU’s ACASA will prime you for a career in the field of archaeology. Your skills will include conducting archaeological fieldwork, interpreting its results and conveying them to governments, clients and the general public.

Graduates can also find work in heritage management or in the cultural sector including museums, journalism, and cultural tourism. Other disciplines are within your reach, too, as your academic skills will give you access to many different kinds of jobs.

The job market

As an archaeological specialist, you can expect to work:

  • as a field archaeologist for archaeological companies or municipalities;
  • as an employee at museums or heritage institutions;
  • as an adviser for government institutions, such as the Cultural Heritage Agency;
  • or in academia.
