The Research Master in Art and Performance Research Studies trains and prepares students for a future in research in academia and beyond. Former students have successfully pursued PhD trajectories (also practice-based). Other former students have found positions in the research departments of museums, art organizations, educational institutions and academia. They work as academic teachers, curators, programmers, independent artists, authors and directors of cultural organisations.

The job market

At the same time, you will also gain a valuable foundation for a variety of professions in the cultural sector. Former students from Art and Performance have found positions in the research departments of museums, as independent researchers and as producers of theatre performances, exhibitions and musical venues. Some have become independent writers.

Artistic Research students have joined other educational institutions focusing on art and research, and work as independent artists, curators, programmers, teachers and project developers.

Your diploma is not a farewell

After graduating, you don't have to say goodbye to the University of Amsterdam! We are happy to help you develop your career. You can join the young alumni programme, which will assist you in mapping out your career. And as an alumnus, you can also still use the Student Careers Centre.
